This has been a crazy journey, but it’s finally happening. What started out as a pipe dream is becoming a reality. Tomorrow, on 11/23/16, we sign the lease for an 11,525 sq ft building in Tigard, Oregon. It’s about to become official! We will have life size obstacles from American Ninja Warrior, Team Ninja Warrior, and the show that started it all, Sasuke. In addition to the obstacles, we will have three Olympic quality trampolines, a climbing wall, a fitness and weightlifting area, a spring floor, and so much more!
How did we get to this point? One and a half years ago, I opened up Knope-Jenkins Personal Training, having stepped down from being the manager of Snap Fitness in Milwaukie. I had a steady stream of regular clients, and those clients would be the first to tell you that I love making fitness fun. Anything that piqued my interest around working out I would make or buy for my clients to use. Tractor tires, Maces, Indian clubs, Kettlebells (before they were popular, very hipster, I know.), slosh tubes, and anything else that I thought would help my clients lose weight, gain muscle, and be healthy. So when I built some American Ninja Warrior Obstacles to train on myself, it should have been no surprise to me that my clients wanted to use them as well.

From there, I saw just how great Obstacles and Obstacle course racing training could be when it was mixed into my clients fitness routines. There weren’t any other American Ninja Warrior gyms around, and my clients loved what I was doing, so I decided to advertise that I was an American Ninja Warrior gym. When we first started, I had just a handful of obstacles, I had built a short salmon ladder, that had three rungs, I had a cliffhanger that was pretty hard on the hands, and some very slippery hanging nunchucks. Things have grown from there, at Skyhook Ninja Fitness, we will have professionally fabricated obstacles as close to the ones on American Ninja Warrior as possible, as well as tons of other amazing equipment. While this is a very scary step to take, we are very excited to embark on it! Sign up for our email list to stay up to date on progress we make, when we open, discounts and other great stuff!
